Introduction from Mr Pizza.

Welcome to Pizza Guide, the no.1 public service web site dedicated to the circle of pleasure that is a Pizza.

This web site was re-launched on February 14th 2005 (I love em!) - so if you're viewing this soon after the date don't expect too many Pizza reviews.
However I'll be updating this site on a daily basis, so please check by soon.

If you've eaten a really good Pizza recently (or a really bad one) please feel free to email me with a review and picture if you have one, check out the "A guide to how Pizza's are rated" section below for guidance.

Love the Pizza! Cheers, Will.

A guide to how Pizza's are rated.

Pizza Guide operates a NON-TRANS FATS policy to its reviews. I try my best to ensure that non of the Pizzas reviewed contain Trans-Fatty Acids (have a look at the ingredients, if Hydrogenated or Partially Hydrogenated Oil - if it does - stay well clear), however if you spot a Pizza I have reviewed with Trans-Fatty Acids, please email me and I'll remove it.
Check out www.tfx.org.uk for more info.

All Pizza's tested are based on a Thin & Crispy or Stone bake variety to give a uniform testing bed.

STAGE ONE. Each Pizza is first photographed in its box, then taken out of its box and weighed in its clear wrapping and with its card board or foam base in place. Delivered Pizza's are taken out of their box and weighed on a cardboard platform.

STAGE TWO. The Pizza is then cooked if necessary and if I can remember, another photo is taken.

STAGE THREE. The Pizza is then rated on its Cheese covering, topping and base. Each of the three categories are scored out of ten. A Taste Total is then awarded (a maximum of 30 points can be achieved).

STAGE FOUR. The Pizzas weight (in ounces) is then divided by its cost - giving a price per ounce figure. This is then multiplied by the Taste Total to give the Pizza Guide Score. A good Pizza Guide Score (PGA) thus represents a Pizza that both tastes good and offers great value for money. A poor PGA score normally represents a poor Pizza, however in some cases it may be a great Pizza but you only get a little bit or it is very expensive for its weight. If money is no object or you're not very hungry or you're a girl then the Taste Total score may be a better guide.

You may have noticed that non of the Pizza's currently rated are Vegetarian or Vegan. This is no slur on the noble principles of Vegetarianism or Veganism, it is just that if I spend my hard earned money on a Pizza I like a bit of meat.
Vegetarian or Vegan Pizza review greatly appreciated to will@britishmac.com.
