  | British Mac presents the world's first Podumentry!
  | British Mac Broadcasting is proud to announce the world’s first Podumentry to celebrate Apple’s 30th Birthday. The Podumentry is the complete Apple story, from its pips to the present day. Released Friday 31st March ’06. I’m pleased to announce what I’ve been working on in readiness for Apple’s 30th, a Podumentry entitled the Apple Story. Instead of calling it another Special Edition, which it is as well of course, I wanted a name that would tell the listener what to expect. It’s not another episode, or review, or tutorial, it’s a documentry delivered via Podcasting, thus was born a ‘Podumentry’. Check out the home page for more info.

  | SAN FRANCISCO, April 29 - No one can accuse Steve Jobs of indifference. In an image-obsessed fit of pique, Apple Computer has banished books published by John Wiley & Sons from the shelves of Apple's 105 retail stores - all because of Wiley's plans to publish an unauthorized biography of Mr. Jobs, Apple's chief executive
  | Yet what the authors lack in firsthand sources they compensate for with attitude. One chapter in the uncorrected proof is titled "iPod, iTune, Therefore I Con." And in describing Mr. Jobs's manner with his employees, the authors describe "the aura of fear Steve carried with him like a dark cloud," adding, "You didn't want to be called in front of him to do a product presentation because he might decide to lop off the product, and you with it."

  | Powerbook battery question from Jeremy North After only a couple of years the battery on my G4 powerbook is pretty well useless giving only a few minutes power. This in spite of having only light use, as I usually plug it in to the mains. Therein lies the problem. After a good few months of getting it, I found out that I should have been letting the battery drain about once a month in order to keep it in good nick. Well it is no good crying over spilt milk, so I had an idea.
Knowing that most battery packs are built from using stock cells, I thought I'd build my wn replacement simply by swapping the li-ion cells in the battery pack. I gained access very easily by prising off the lid of the pack. Inside there are 6 cells, type 18650. The problem is tracking down a uk supplier. I found only one who charged (no pun intended) £10.89 per cell making it more expensive than just buting a replacement pack! I've seen US sites selling them much cheaper but I hesitate to import them as often the duty/collection fee makes it costly.
Having google searched, i was frustrated in that virtually all the promising links I could find were as dead as my battery!
Can you put it out there to find other's experiences?

  | Andrew Rudkin application recommendation. I heard you talking about the Soho apps from Chronos and that you had problems un-installing the various elements which had been blasted around your system.
You should look at a very cheap application (less than $13) called App Zapper. You can get it from http://www.appzapper.com/ and is perfect for getting shot of programs from your system

  | Shaun Madden naming convention suggestion I know you have been asking for feedback for your podcast, the only thing that i am going to suggest is your naming conventions for episodes. I listened to most podcasts on my powerbook but the last episode i listened to on my ipod, but finding it was a bit hard as it was named only "Episode 7" and i was looking for the words British mac, and although you have the name correctly for the Album and your own name in the Artist when viewing in itunes- they don't show up on the ipod when scrolling through all my podcasts.
I notice that most other podcasts such as ScreenCastsOnline would use naming conventions such as 'SCO007' for episode 7. Maybe you could use BritishMac007 and similar for special editions, such as BritishMacSE002. Actually screen casts online started using the name convention after the first few episodes.

  | Father Ted on Mastermind If you've ever wondered if you could have a sitcom as a specialist subject, then wonder no more. You can, and the winner of BBC's Mastermind 2005 no less, chose the daddy. I didn't see most of the show, but he did score a rather impressive 17 in the specialist round, and won the show with a total score of 35. He also won the million pound jackpot on ITV's Who Wants To Be A Millionnaire. Proof, if needed, that Ted is the sitcom of the inteligent types. That's my argument, and I'm sticking to it. So congratulations to Patrick Gibson - Mastermind 2005!

  | New American remake of Father Ted Yes you read the title correctly, the wheels are in motion for a remake of Ted in America! There's a lot of information and titbits floating arround the internet about this, and of course the only people who know that facts are those who are involved. It's really a case of wait and see, but for now, here are some things we've unearthed that are apparently true... The latest unconfirmed news is that Steve Martin will take the lead role. Hat Trick, makers of the origionl, have teamed up with former Seinfeld writer Spike Feresten to create the US version. Details are very sketch at best but it seems the show will use the original scripts although probably adapted slightly. It also seems that is the show becomes Popular and out runs the 25 episodes worth of scripts, then new episodes might be written by a team of American writers
