A stormy night

I sit in here back at my home in Shropshire. It's 5 o'clock in the morning of for some reason I can't sleep so I thought I'd update my blog.

Outside it's a stormy November night, and my thoughts turn to my plans for my up and coming day. If you're anything like me most days pass without doing any of things I had planned or need to do. In fact if there's something I need to do I'll do anything other than that!

Why is this I wonder? And how can I change the way I 'manage my tasks'. I've read Getting Things Done, invested hours in learning new software to help me in my jobs - but it never works. Perhaps a new a method is called for, I think I'm going to call it 'Random Do'.

This is what you do (assuming your a Mac user):
1. Write down all the stuff you need to do. Forget about priorities and all the other stuff, just write a big list.
2. Download 'Dine-O-Matic' widget for the Mac.
3. Instead of Restaurants add your tasks to it (it's quite fun assigning Categories to tasks - anything money wise I assign Italian for some reason).
4. Add loads of 'take a day off, you need it'
5. Once a day click the blue plate - complete the task and then delete it. Do not complete more than one task a day, but always complete one task a day - even if that's a 'take a day off, you need it' task.

I suspect this is a complete load of bollocks, but I'll try it for a week and let you know.
